Scope and Contents:
Film strip of six images inside a Hechinger store at Hechinger Mall. No ink on negative. Ink on envelope: "# 2". "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063" and "21A - 22 - 22A - 23 - 23A - 24 - 24A - 25 - 25A - 26 - 26A - 27" edge imprint.
First frame: Group of four men posing inside a Hechinger store. There are signs readings, "Father's Day Sunday June 21st", "Outdoor and picnic needs" and "No smoking No discharge of fireworks within 50ft" and displays of fireworks and charcoal briquets. "21A - 22" section of edge imprint under this image.
Third frame:
Sixth frame: Man and woman holding the handle of a lawnmower standing in front of a display of Scott's lawn products in a Hechinger store. The man is holding a carnation in his hand. "26A - 27" section of edge imprint under this image.
Subseries Restrictions:
Collection is open for research. Gloves must be worn when handling unprotected photographs and negatives. Special arrangements required to view negatives due to cold storage. Using negatives requires a three hour waiting period. Contact the Archives Center at 202-633-3270.
Subseries Rights:
When the Museum purchased the collection from the Estate of Robert S. Scurlock, it obtained all rights, including copyright. The earliest photographs in the collection are in the public domain because their term of copyright has expired. The Archives Center will control copyright and the use of the collection for reproduction purposes, which will be handled in accordance with its standard reproduction policy guidelines. Archives Center cost-recovery and use fees may apply when requesting reproductions.
