Scope and Contents:
This series is comprised of drafts, working files, copies, and complete typescripts of material named as "Kalinga texts" by Takaki and her assistants. This material consists of written stories and transcriptions of recorded content covering different aspects of Kalinga culture and society, the majority of it in the Kalinga language. The series includes typescripts and compilations created during Takaki's fieldwork in the Philippines, between 1964 and 1968, as well as working files amending and editing these texts, created and used during Takaki's tenure at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Sound recordings whose transcriptions are in this series can be found in Series 4. Notebooks kept by Kalinga informants and assistants, some of which have been compiled and edited into texts, can be found in Series 1.
Series 6 is divided into the following 2 subseries: (6.1) Kalinga texts, circa 1960-1969, undated; (6.2) Miscellaneous and reserve texts, circa 1960-2006.
