This series contains financial records, correspondence, records of donations, contracts, and administrative records from the Latin American Archaeology Fund (LAAF). The LAAF was created by Clifford Evans while he was chair of the Department of Anthropology in 1971, in order to fund "activities related to the advancement of archaeological research in Latin America." Researchers working on Latin American research projects in the fields of archaeology, cultural ecology, ethnohistory, physical anthropology of archaeological skeletons, palynology, carbon-14 dating, and other related fields could apply for funds which were applied towards travel, museum study, purchase of supplies and other materials, research support, and fieldwork. Evans and Meggers supported the LAAF financially and administratively until the early 1990s. This series retains Meggers's original order (mostly chronological).
