Scope and Contents:
This series contains Arensberg's files from his years as a faculty member at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Brooklyn College, Barnard College, and Columbia University. Throughout his extensive career in the university setting, Arensberg developed and refined many courses, advised numerous doctoral candidates, and engaged in intellectual endeavors with his colleagues through attending Columbia University seminars. Each subseries represents a course topic Arensberg taught over the years in various forms. The bulk of material consists of resources Arensberg gathered for his classes. Materials in this series consist of articles, papers, bibliographies, lecture notes, reading lists, assignments, exams, correspondence, meeting minutes, project proposals, and course syllabi.
