Scope and Contents:
Edited film is a travel-lecture film created by Karl E. Stein and documents travel in Morocco presenting how people live, work and play and their homes, schools and industries. Locales visited include Casablanca, Rabat; Safi, the sardine capital of the world; Essaouira, formerly Mogador (marquetry); the walled city of Tiznit; Goulimine's camel market; Tiznit; Marrakesy; Volubilis; Fez (minarets and mosques); and the Sahara Desert . Also filmed are travelling the road across the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakesh (Djemaa-el-Fna square); the Moussem (a religious festival) at Tan-Tan; handicraft school at Azrou; interior of a Moroccan home; Moulay Idriss, a holy place; and the "Kasbah Road" to Erfoud. Scenes also include military displays, belly dancers and other dancing, a fish factory, pottery making, gathering and carving wood, bookbinding, painting, markets, contemporary and historical architecture, beaches, rural areas, churches, castles, fishing trawlers, and tree-climbing goats.
