Scope and Contents:
Unfinished unedited film documents the sights and sounds typical of the open market in Asia. Narration explains various types of markets in Asia, including large central markets in cities, and roving markets moving regularly from one area of the city to another. Film focuses on Talat Nat, a largeoutdoor market in the center of Thailand. Footage depicts the Sunam Luang (royal field) when it is open for kite flying contests and soccer games; the handling of cobra; a boy put into trance; a dentist removing and cleaning teeth; various items for sale, including meat, vegetables, fruits, prepared foods, spices, clothing, housewares, art objects, jewelry and enterntainment.
