Printed caption on verso reads: "Arab Restaurant, Cairo. Here, under the feathery date-palms and dum palms, native Cairo comes to drink coffee and sherbet, to eat seethed kid and cloying sweetmeats, and refresh itself with cool melons, lemons, and lettuces. The Fellah woman in the background is carring away a basket full of greenstuff, probably beans, a staple food in ancient and modern Egypt."
