Scope and Contents:
The photograph depicts a young hairdresser working by appliqué cloth makers. During his trip to Dahomey (now Benin), Elisofon visited the town of Abomey, in the Fon people region. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Westinghouse Film and traveled to Africa from October 26, 1970 to end of March 1971.

Typed index card reads, "D 2 Fon. Fon. Dahomey, Abomey. Hairdresser working in front of applique cloth makers. Feb.-Mar. 1971. EE. neg.no. VIII-39, 12." The card was written in 1977-79 by Archives staff using source provided by photographer.
