Scope and Contents:
This series contains general biographical materials such as CVs; extensive address books and business cards collected from Scanga's colleagues, friends, institutions, and artists, throughout his long career; and phone message books. Military records from his service with the Tactical Command of the United States Forces in Austria in the early-1950s and later with the Army Reserve Unit of Michigan in the mid-1950s include a pamphlet instructing good behavior, border crossing cards, and other ephemera. Scattered writings by Scanga include a work entitled "Pier Luigi Nervi." Works about Scanga are written by Ernest Silva and John Yau. Artworks are unsigned and include doodles and sketches. Scattered personal business records consist of a will, an agreement for a movie production, and business agreements with Scanga's son, Joe Scanga. Photographs depict Scanga, his family, friends, and students, and fellow artists.

This collection is open for research. Access to original papers requires an appointment and is limited to the Archives' Washington, D.C. Research Center.
