The series contains student work including Rubin's unfinished Ph.D. dissertation research and manuscript while at Harvard University on automatism in New York from 1939 to 1946, class work, and student papers. Other writing projects, such as articles, essays, and a book project include born-digital images, an essay draft, and exhibition material; lectures on nine sound recordings; correspondence; research material; manuscripts and drafts; contracts; and photographs. Also included are notes, artwork and slide lists for lectures, and a written memorial for Anselm Talalay.

Use of original papers requires an appointment and is limited to the Archives' Washington, D.C., Research Center. Use of archival audiovisual recordings and born-digital records with no duplicate copies requires advance notice.
