Incoming correspondence is from artists, collectors, consigners, suppliers and vendors, galleries, and museums. Incoming correspondence is in chronological and alphabetical order. Outgoing correspondence is contained in 46 letterpress copybooks. Correspondence includes topics such as inquiries into appraisals, artwork sales and consignments, framing and shipping arrangements, and exhibitions.
Arrangement note:
The series is arranged as three subseries: 1.1: Chronological Correspondence, 1863-1972 1.2: Alphabetical Correspondence, 1921-1971 1.3: Letterpress Copybooks, 1930-1967 Because the collection was minimally processed, chronological and alphabetical correspondence have not been merged.
