Subject files are composed of a variety of materials including correspondence, business records, printed material, and photographs. They document transactions with museums, commercial galleries, and art consultants. Correspondence with Alan Stone Gallery chronicles Deem's early career as a painter. Other files concern donations of artwork to fundraising auctions, gifts of art and books to the New Britain Museum of American Art, and Deem's art collection. Files relating to mail art exhibitions document Deem's participation; also included is mail art correspondence (mostly photocopies) with a few letters from Deem to fellow artists as well as letters from Richard Copy, Ray Johnson, and Jean-Noel Laszlo. Also found are subject files regardings Deem's paintings and drawings in public and private collections.

This series is alphabetized by folder title. Subject files are also included in the addition to the George Deem papers (Series 9).

Use of original material requires an appointment. Use of archival audiovisual recordings with no duplicate access copy requires advance notice.
