This accession consists primarily of field notes of Harry S. Ladd (1899-1982), a geologist who spent much of his career with the United States Geological Survey (1940-1969) and with the National Museum of Natural History, Department of Paleobiology (1969-1979). He specialized in the geology of the islands of the Pacific Ocean. Materials also include correspondence, reports, locality data, scientific illustrations, maps, and photographs.
