This accession consists of records related to the exhibition, Retratos: 2000 Years of Latin American Portraits. These materials were created and maintained by Carolyn Kinder Carr, Deputy Director and co-curator for the exhibition. Among Carr's co-curators were Marion Oettinger, Director and Senior Curator, San Antonio Museum of Art; Fatima Bercht, Chief Curator, El Museo del Barrio; and Miguel A. Bretos, Senior Scholar, National Portrait Gallery. This exhibition was organized by the San Antonio Museum of Art, the National Portrait Gallery, and El Museo del Barrio. Composed of more than 100 portraits from over 15 different countries, Retratos: 2000 Years of Latin American Portraits traveled to the following venues: El Museo del Barrio, New York, New York; San Diego Museum of Art, California; Bass Museum of Art, Miami Beach, Florida; Smithsonian International Gallery, Washington, D.C.; and the San Antonio Museum of Art, Texas. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, floor plans, contracts, brochures, label copy, press kits, clippings, grant proposals, invitations, and other related materials.
