Descriptive Entry:
This accession consists of audiotapes created during the production of a number of radio specials titled "American Roots" and a proposed radio program titled "American Routes." Both programs featured traditional and contemporary music from across the country and were hosted by Nicholas R. Spitzer. There were multiple "American Roots" specials that were aired on several national patriotic holidays. Recordings of concerts at Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts were used in these programs and some of the source material was also used in the radio series "Folk Masters from the Barns of Wolf Trap." "American Routes" was never fully produced. It had a similar theme to "American Roots," but used recordings from a variety of sources. Materials include original recordings, safety copies, interviews, and demos.
