Scope and Contents:
Two small portrait busts of young African American men or boys. One wears a jacket and tie. The other tintype, in somewhat worse condition, is bent and abraded and has a hole in the top, and shows a young man wearing a broad-brimmed hat, vest, and jacket, no tie. No indication of photographer's identity.
Arrangement:
Collection is arranged into one series.
Biographical / Historical:
Nothing is known about the subjects of the photographs, their origin, or circumstances. Neither photograph is captioned, and the photographer is unidentified.
Provenance:
Purchased by Richard Ahlborn, February 1990 from a dealer in Lyons, Colorado, who believed the tintypes were taken in Colorado. Gift of Mr. Ahlborn to the Archives Center.
