Biographical / Historical:
The SCA (Stabilimento di Costruzione Aeronautiche) N.1 "Norge" Airship took off from Spitsbergen, Norway on May 11, 1926 with a crew that included pilot (and the ship's designer) Umberto Nobile and explorers Roald Amundsen and Lincoln Ellsworth. The "Norge" crossed over the North Pole on May 12, 1926, completing the first verified transpolar flight in history, before landing a few days later at Teller, Alaska. While crossing the Pole, the crew dropped Norwegian, American, and Italian flags.
