Biographical/Historical note:
The Harris & Ewing photo studio was started in 1905 by George W. Harris and Martha Ewing as both a portrait studio and news service. Famous for their portraits of presidents and administration officials, the studio was the largest in Washington, DC, and photographed as many as 10,000 people a year after the sale of the news service in 1945. Harris & Ewing closed in 1955.
