Scope and Contents note:
Photographs depicting Montagnard people utilizing items such as baskets, axes, hoes, and crossbows, as well as interiors and exteriors of dwellings. They include one image of the King of Fire, a Jarai shaman. The photographs are a sample submitted to illustrate the use of artifacts which Hickey also donated to the Smithsonian. In a letter describing the photographs, Hickey noted that "with most of them [photographs], however, the ethnic group does not match the ethnic origin of the item [donated artifact] but the use of them is nonetheless the same." Included in the collection are pictures showing the use of a large crossbow, hoes, and baskets. Ethnic groups depicted are Jarai, Jeh, and Stieng.
