A receipt from Diego Rivera representing the sale of his portrait of Miss Kathleen Burke to Mrs. S. E. [Samuel E.; Ruth] Strong for {dollar}500.00, March 5, 1935.

Biographical / Historical:

Diego Rivera, a renowned Mexican mural painter, was commissioned by Mrs. Samuel Strong in 1935 to paint a portrait of her friend, Kathleen Burke, of Cleveland, Ohio.

Provenance:

Donated 1999 by Mrs. Ruth Vincent, Mrs. Samuel E. Strong's former personal secretary.
