Biographical / Historical:
Painter Paul Allen Reed (1919-2015) was born, and lived for most of his life, in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Washington Color School, whose style of abstract color-field painting emerged and flourished in the city's art scene during the 1960s. Reed taught at the Corcoran School of Art from 1971 to the early 1980s. His work can be found in the collections of the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, and other museums.
