Biographical / Historical:
Robert M. Olyphant was a close friend and art patron of John Frederick Kensett, a leading landscape painter of the Hudson River School who worked extensively in New England and Colorado. Olyphant also served as executor of Kensett's estate.
Provenance:
Donated 1993 by David Olyphant, a descendent of Robert M. Olyphant. Although the album is unpublished, the donor believes several copies were made; circumstances of its production are unknown.
