Scope and Contents:
Nine sketchbooks with drawings from art classes, from his travels in England, France, Holland, Italy, and Switzerland, and for book illustrations. Three photographs of Burleigh and one of his house in Little Compton, Rhode Island, were inserted in the sketchbooks and have been microfilmed with them.
Biographical / Historical:
Painter and illustrator. Burleigh studied under Paul Laurens in Paris. He was founder of the Art Workers Guild as well as an officer in the Providence Art Club from 1886 to 1931.
Provenance:
Lent for microfilming 1985 by the Providence Art Club.
