Abstract:
This field book consists of the field notes of William R. Maxon, from field work in Costa Rica, Panama, Maryland, Jamaica, 1923-1926. Collector numbers 8351 - 10240 are included. Entries include: collector number, scientific name, locality, and date. Localities include: San Isidro (Costa Rica), Canal Zone (Panama), Cuna Cuna Gap (Jamaica), House Hill (Jamaica), and others. Some entries include references to local sayings, possibly in Jamaican Patois.

Abstract:
This field book consists of the field notes of William R. Maxon, from field work in Maryland, Cuba, Jamaica, New York, and Panama, 1906-1917. Collector numbers 3901 through 6349 are included. Entries include: collector number, scientific name, locality, and date. Some entries include collecting locality notes (on rocks, trail, etc.). Localities include: Plummers Island (Maryland), Rio Bayamita (Cuba), Berraco (Cuba), Daiquiri (Cuba), Dios Ayuda (Cuba), Santa Ana (Cuba), Jaguey (Cuba), Guantanamo (Cuba), Mandeville (Jamaica), Oneida (New York), Lanham (Maryland), Agua Clara (Panama), Canal Zone (Panama), Chiriqui (Panama), and Boquete (Panama). Dates on the spine read 1906-1907, but contents reflect years 1906-1917.

Description:
This collection consists of 10 field books (folders and volumes) by William R. Maxon. These field books represent Maxon's field work collecting plant specimens in North and South America. One volume includes a list of plant collections made with Paul Carpenter Standley and another volume includes plant collections made with Ellsworth Paine Killip. Also included is one folder of determinations made by Maxon and others. Locations include: the United States (including Maryland, D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, Florida), Jamaica, Cuba, Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.
