Scope and Contents:
Consists of photographic materials including black and white prints, proofs, contact sheets, negatives, and slides taken by Frank Espada. The photographic materials were taken primarily in New York and Washington, DC during the 1960s and early 1970s, with exception to the slides, which are of different countries that Espada visited. The majority are identified and document a 1964 school boycott, rallies by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Malcolm X, and the March on Washington. Also documented are organizations such as the New York East Action, the Puerto Rican Community Development Project and the Young Lords, among others. The materials are arranged in chronological order.
