Summarizes the findings of the metallurgical analyses of the Ife bronzes and the Jebba-Tada bronzes. Results show that the seated figure of Tada, generally recognized as an Ife work, is of almost pure copper, thus relating it to similar objects from Ife. Also discussed are the various sources of ore in West Africa that may have been used in West African bronzes and the general distribution of bronze-casting centers in West Africa

Essay on lost-wax brass casting and ironworking among the northern Ekiti of Obo and the Okeri Yagba of Kwara State. Comparisons are made between archaeological evidence of metalworking at Obo and Okeri (from 16th century for brass casting and earlier for ironworking) and contemporary practice of both lost-wax casting and iron smelting. Four of the lost-wax cast objects are illustrated including a rectangular bell in Benin style and Ogboni edan. Suggests that the Tsoede bronzes may have been made at Okeri and taken as war booty during the Nupe-Yagba wars.

Report on a scientific examination of clay core samples of ancient lost-wax cast "bronzes" from several casting centers in southern Nigeria. The particular focus was to ascertain the origins of the Tsoede bronzes (including Jebba and Tada). Results indicate they are more similar to Ife than Benin, Udo or Igbo-Ukwu works
