Abstract:
This field book is comprised of plant and animal specimen list generated by Bailey during his collecting efforts in Wyoming and Utah in 1890. Bailey often includes the number of specimens taken from the field and usually also includes a cubic measurement of the specimen. He also often notes the number of live specimens observed in the field. Bailey occasionally takes notes on bird behavior at specific times of day. Specimen no. 1241-1264 are noted using scientific name cubic measurements, and often sex of specimen.

Abstract:
This field book contains dated specimen lists comprised of plant and animal scientific names and locality from Bailey's travels in California and Colorado in October and November of 1891. Entries begin at Auburn, Colorado on October 19, 1891 and end with an entry on a religious theme written at the First Congressional Church in Washington, D.C.

Abstract:
This item contains lists of plant and animal scientific names generated by Bailey with some narrative journal entries beginning in Elk River, Minnesota and ending in Cedar Vale, Kansas. Entries include more localities in these two states and localities in Michigan, Canada, Missouri. The notebook also contains a few geological drawings.

Abstract:
This field book describes the collecting efforts of Bailey through Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia from July through early September 1892. The notebook is primarily comprised of lists of mammalian scientific names organized by date and place name with botanical and ornithological lists interspersed. It begins with a listed entitled, "Prairie dogs report" followed by an entry from Cedar Vale, Kansas, and ends with a list from Kiowa, Kansas. The notebook contains two drawings of prairie dogs and a drawing of "coon tracks". Measurement and sex of specimens taken from the field are sometimes provided.

Abstract:
This item is primarily comprised of specimen lists of scientific names of plants and animals observed by Bailey throughout his travels in New Mexico, Arizona, and California from May -July 1907. Recorded specimen information generally include genus and and sometimes species. Specimen lists are dated and location is described by nearby city or town name and sometimes includes elevation. Specimen lists begin in Santa Rosa, Arizona and ending in Escondido, California. The item includes a plant catalog from 1907 with specimen no. 1165-1187. The field book also includes some itinerary information.

Abstract:
This item accompanies the field book contained in Box 2 Folder 3 of the same collection. The journal provides dated narrative entries regarding the activities and events of Bailey's trip to Wyoming and New Mexico to study the methods of exterminating wolves. This research was conducted in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service. While the main purpose of Bailey's trip through Wyoming and New Mexico was to study wolves, diary entries also include observations of other species of plants and animals described primarily by their scientific names and occasionally by their common names.

Contains lists of birds and mammals sighted; observations on flora, fauna, and physical surroundings; and news clippings about the American Ornithologists' union. The second diary documents a trip taken by Edward Preble with Vernon Orlando Bailey to Oregon, May 28 - July 9, 1896 . Contains observations on vegetation, birds, wildlife, specimens collected, and physical surroundings. This field book contains Bailey's specimen lists of plants and animals observed and collected by Bailey in Minnesota and Wyoming from April and May of 1890. Dated specimen lists are organized by locality and typically include either common name or genus and species. Sex of specimens is sometimes noted. Entries at the back of the notebook included specimen no. 111-1128. Cubic measurements are provided for these entries. The field book also includes notes regarding Bailey's observations of small mammals and their offspring. The notebook also contains two drawings by Bailey, one of a small mammal and one landscape drawing.

Abstract:
This field book contains dated specimen lists for plants and animals observed and collected by Bailey during his collection and observation efforts in California and Nevada from October 17, 1890- January 7, 1891. Localities are noted beginning at Wells, Nevada and ending at "Surprise CaƱon". Additional localities include Death Valley, Panamint Valley and other various places in Mojave Desert. Localities are primarily in the vicinity of Reese River Canyon. The notebook also contains drawings of animal tracks and poetry related to animal collecting.

Abstract:
The field book primarily documents Bailey's field work from May 1896 through October 1896 in Oregon and West Virginia during January 1897. The first specimen is recorded at Norfolk, Nebraska on May 15, 1896. From Nebraska, Bailey moved through Wyoming to Oregon collecting, observing and writing lists of mammalian, reptilian, ornithological, and botanical scientific names. The item also includes a plant catalog containing genus and species information for various locations dated 1894-1896.
