Abstract:
The journal discusses Florence Bailey's travel along the west coast, September 20 - November 29, 1907. Note on the front indicates that it is 2 of 2 volumes. Journal entries are headed with date and location. Entries describe travel details, individuals met, interactions with colleagues, descriptions of communities, birds observed (gulls, water birds, sandpipers) and their behaviors as individuals and in flocks. There is description of marine life seen aboard vessel enroute to Catalina Island. Notes in margins highlight major topics covered in entries, usually referring to type of fauna observed but also delineating locations and topics like an invalid patient and labor parade. Most observations of birds take place in California. Much of the notebook is blank. Locations include Pasadena, Mt Loma, Venice, Catalina, San Fernando Valley, Saugus, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Red Bluff, Scout's Bluff, Glenwood, California; Portland, Oregon; Steilacoom, Tacoma, Washington.

Abstract:
This item includes data regarding Bailey's collection and observation of flora and fauna primarily in North Dakota, from July 1-August 13, 1920. Dated lists of specimens typically identify specimens by genus and often also include species identification. Localities include Bismarck, the Killdeer Mountains, and Sentinel Butte. The item also contains a small photograph of Bailey's wife, the ornithologist Florence Augusta Merriam Bailey, taken in March 1900.

Abstract:
The journal documents Florence Merriam Bailey's field work in Bermuda, March 13 - 31, 1890. Lists members of the travel party, most only with initials, except for Louise A Husted. Includes pinned botanical specimens and descriptions. Entries are headed with date, and detail travel, descriptions of locations seen enroute, marine life seen aboard vessel (including phosphorescent life forms in the vessel's wake), weather, daily activities, accommodations, descriptions of plants including color, collecting in waters, sketches of apparatus, and notes about observations and interactions with local inhabitants.

Abstract:
The journal documents Florence Bailey's travel and observations in Maine, 1911. In the front of the volume is a loose insert listing locations, vegetation, types of habitat, birds observed. Pages are numbered. Entries are not continuous. There are often blank pages in-between. Some journal entries are dated, others headed with type of environment (pastures, cranberry bog, [type of tree] swamps), type of plant (ferns, flowers), or name of town. They begin June 23, 1911 and are often headed with location. They describe travel from Washington to Maine with time in Canada (Montreal), travel details (mode of transportation, accommodations), observations of vegetation, descriptions of behavior and appearance of birds. Some lists of vegetation include notes about descriptions and habitat, and sometimes date. There is a miscellaneous heading describing other fauna observed (insects, snakes). Locations include Fryeburg Harbor and North Waterford.

Abstract:
The journal documents Florence Bailey's travel and observations of California, beginning in May. It m ay correspond with a second journal of travel in California dated 1907. Entries are usually dated and include observations of vegetation, birds, possibly interactions and observations of local inhabitants, terrain, geological observations in canyons. Beginning entries appear to be recorded while in motion, and are fragmented in construction. There are sketches of plants. Half of the notebook is blank. Locations mentioned include Santa Ana, via Ogden, Cattle Canyon.
