Scope and Contents:
This photograph was taken by Dr. Simon Ottenberg while conducting field research in northern Sierra Leone within Bafodea Town, the capital of Wara Wara Bafodea Chiefdom, while on an Art Historical and Anthropological Field Research from October of 1978 through July of 1980.
Original title reads, "At Kadanso Village. Second funeral [memorial] of Pa Hono, famous chief of Kadanso. Many chiefs and people come from various Bafodea villages and Fadagu Chiefdom Limba villages south of Bafodea, as Kadanso Village is in southern Bafodea country. Bafodea Chief Pa Salifu Mansary talking, with red scarf. There was much speech-making at this event, as well as numerous musical groups."
