Entrance to Sir Francis Ibiam Girls Secondary School on the left. The road is going toward Unwana from Mgbom Village. Afikpo is a major educational center in eastern Igbo. Sir Francis Ibiam was born in Unwana, the village-group just south of Afikpo, studied in Calabar and did his medical degree in Scotland. He returned to become a medical missionary for the Church of Scotland Mission (Presbyterian) at Uburu and elsewhere.
