Scope and Contents:
This collection consists of one 5 ½" x 5 ½" floppy diskette from John Whitman of Micromedia Software in Wellesley, MA, which purports to portray the first Christmas card. It is believed that J. C. Horsley designed the card in England in 1843. When displayed on computer screen the card reads. "A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year you." Along with the card the diskette asks a variety of visual questions like, "What do you want for Christmas?" and then displays a personalized Christmas story. The diskette also includes two Christmas computer games, one called Christmas Tree; the other Multiple Joys.and in 1843. When displayed on computer screen the card reads. Biographical / Historical:
In 1983 John Whitman donated a computer diskette with a copy of the first Christmas card created by J.C. Horsley in 1843. The diskette runs on an Apple II or IIe. The diskette also includes two Christmas computer games.
