This accession consists of records documenting the overall administration of the National Air and Space Museum during the tenures of Directors Martin Harwit, 1989-1995;
Donald S. Lopez (Acting), 1995 and 1999; Donald Davenport Engen, 1996-1999; and John R. Dailey, 2000- . Some records were also created by Lopez in his role as Deputy Director,
1996-2008. Documented topics include the construction of the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, departmental affairs, exhibitions, concessions, budget, program reviews, filming
proposals, staff meetings, visitor experiences, aircraft, and strategic planning. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, reports, surveys, brochures, images, videos,
presentations, meeting minutes, strategic plans, notes, and related materials. Some materials are in electronic format.
