Fragmentary material of type specimen ex herb. Paris. Mounted on sheet with type of Trisetum labradoricum Steud.; another (syn?)type is filed separately. Also on sheet is photo (only) of the type of Avena mollis Michx.
Scribner, F. L. 1898. U.S.D.A. Div. Agrostol. Bull. 11: 43.
St. Augustine., St. Johns, Florida, United States, North America
Panicum nitidum var. minor Vasey: protologue cites no collections or specimens, except "Florida"; based (at least in part) on "P. ramulosum of Chapman's supplement, but I think cannot be the plant of Michx." Re-published (with same data) in Contr. U.S. Natl. Herb. 3: 30 (1892). Panicum baldwinii Nutt. ex Chapm. (1897) is apparently based, at least in part, on the same name and specimens; Panicum baldwinii Nutt. ex Scribn. (1898) is either a later homonym or isonym (apparently also based, in part, on same material).
Specimen ex John Donnell Smith herbarium. Apparently not a type, but mounted with type fragment of Trisetum hirtum Trin. (one of two additional elements in fragment packets apparently added at some later date) and filed in the type herbarium under that name.
