Curator Larry Bird, historian Louis Hutchins, and museum conservator Martin Burke visit Tim Howey at his home in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to see his family fallout shelter and evaluate it for exhibition, March 26, 1991. The shelter was later excavated and trucked to Washington, D.C., where it was exhibited in "Science in American Life" at the National Museum of American History, until 2011.
