Portrait of Alicia Hopton Russell as a child picking roses in a landscape, her body turned to the right, her head facing forward, and her gaze directed toward the viewer. She wears a white dress with a square neckline, three-quarter-length sleeves, and a ribbon sash. Over her right arm she carries a basket of roses, and with her left hand she reaches toward a rosebush.
