Summary:
Waterscape depicting the three masted British sailing ship Merchantman approaching the busy Liverpool harbor, its sails blowing in a strong wind, and the British flag flying from its rigging. The harbor is filled with sailing ships and smaller boats, highlighted by rays of light that shine down from a break in the clouds overhead. In the foreground a rowboat full of men crosses the choppy river waters, heading toward the Merchantman. In the background buildings along the Liverpool waterfront are visible.
