Summary:
A bronze figure of a Union soldier holding his rifle vertically in front of him with both hands on the barrel and the rifle butt resting by his feet. He stands with his left leg forward and his left foot extending over the edge of the bronze base. He wears a long belted coat with a short cape, a cap, and ammunition pouches. The figure stands atop a square granite base surrounded by four cannons.
