Summary:
A preliminary study for the mural installed over the doors to the museum's library depicts a seated male figure holding calipers up to measure the distance between the stars over head. Seated behind him is a female figure looking up at the stars and taking notes with a quill pen held in her right hand, and a small notebook open on her lap.
