Summary:
Rural landscape depicting a black farmer's family going about their chores in front of a log cabin with smoke pouring from the chimney, which leans a bit and is held up with slender tree trunk. Out in the yard there is a kettle on a fire and chickens peck at the ground. The women are busy with the laundry, which hangs on a wooden structure to the right.
