Summary:
A collection of fifty-one bronze relief plaques that are located along the colonnade at the east entrance to the Coliseum. Plaque installations began in the early 1930s and continue today. The plaques commemorate athletes, public figures, and events. Twelve plaques consist of only a text inscription and small decorative elements in relief. Thirty-nine plaques feature relief portraits or other art work. The plaques are rectangular, with the exception of one which is round.
