Coalition of Black Community Organizations for Justice came together originally around the events surrounding the shooting of Gregory Coleman by Officer Charles Pender. In each community, the coalition held a series of hearings to continue the investigation into the shooting of Coleman and into practices in the black community related to citizens, businessmen, and the police department's relationship to both. The coalition consisted of 22 black organizations.
