Pepin was the Julia Child Award winner in 2015, Rick Bayless was the award winner in 2016. The award, begun in 2015, is presented annually to "an individual who has made a profound and significant difference in the way America cooks, eats and drinks."
The 2015 donation: Documents the life and career of French chef, author, and television personality Jacques Pepin. Included are menus illustrated by Pepin; prints of menus he illustrated; a diploma; a certificate; letters from President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush and President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama; and photographs of Pepin throughout his life and career.
2016 addendum: Relates to Chef Rick Bayless, of the Frontera Grill in Chicago. It includes menus from the Frontera Grill, photographs taken in the restaurant and during Bayless's travels in Mexico, designs for menus, designs for book illustrations, and a very highly detailed notebook containing notes from Bayless's field research on the cuisine of Mexico for his book "Authentic Mexican: Regional Cooking from the Heart of Mexico".
