A Missouri farmer, King (1857-1920) invented a device to improve rural roads and make them safer and more passable. It was called the King Road Drag, or the Split Log Drag.
Papers documenting a road grader that D. Ward King invented to drain water from, and improve, the condition of rural roads. Includes photographs of King, his family, the grader, the conditions of roads before and after treatment by the grader; a photograph album containing mostly images of demonstrations of the grader; a scrapbook containing letters and photographs; a blueprint; a few writings; a poem; and numerous articles and reprints from various publications praising King's invention.
