Walker discusses being teased for having an accent and associating with mostly people in the same West Indian circle because she felt unable to mix with other races. She also talks about the difference between social interactions in America versus Costa Rica and her family's rejection of Costa Rican philosophy and latino mentality due to differing moral stances.
