Summary:
Eduardo Flores is interviewed about growing up in Cuba and his experience immigrating to the U.S. Flores arrived in New Orleans in 1961 and relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1971. He recalls his family and community back in Haiti as being poor but proud and discusses the difficulty he faced with discrimination of hispanics and African Americans in the U.S. Other topics of conversation include the language barrier immigrants face and Haitian religion, specifically Santeria. An abbreviated transcript of the interview is available for reference in the archives.
An interview of Eduardo Flores, conducted 1992 November 24 for the Black Mosaic exhibition. Black Mosaic was an exhibition exploring the immigration of people of African descent from Central and South America and the Caribbean to the Washington Metropolitan Area. The show was organized by the Anacostia Museum and held there from August 21, 1994 through August 7, 1995
