Summary:
Jean Yves Point-du-Jour is interviewed about growing up in Haiti and adjusting to life as an immigrant after arriving in Baltimore in 1975. Point-du-Jour recalls fond memories of childhood in Haiti and discusses the harsh conditions for migrant workers in the states. Other topics of conversation include the migration history of Haitians beginning with President Jean-Claude Duvalier's assumption of power in 1971, and the music and traditions of worship in Haiti. An interview of Jean Yves Point-du-Jour, conducted for the Black Mosaic exhibition. Black Mosaic was an exhibition exploring the immigration of people of African descent from Central and South America and the Caribbean to the Washington Metropolitan Area. The show was organized by the Anacostia Museum and held there from August 21, 1994 through August 7, 1995
