Summary:
Images document the opening exhibition of the Anacostia Community Museum, formerly known as the Anacostia Neighborhood Museum. The museum opened on September 15, 1967. The exhibit included: a full-scale mock-up of a Mercury space capsule; "shoebox" exhibits for elementary and preschool children; "bone room" displaying skeletons that could be assembled and reassembled; a small zoo; and an 1890 country store and post office.
