Summary:
Consists primarily of correspondence between banking customers and their banks, banking houses, dealers and exchanges (versus bank-to-bank correspondence). Also present are cancelled checks from large banks such as Shawmut Bank, Bank of Kent and Bank of Whitehall, along with various bank reports and publications, stock certificates, notes of exchange and promissory notes. The bulk of the material dates from the 19th century.
