Consists of the papers and products of individual genealogists, genealogical societies, family associations, and businesses engaged in the study or trade of genealogy and heraldry. Items in this series include personal papers, organizational papers, family trees, family registers, photographs, professional journals, handbooks, historical narratives, advertisements, and product samples. Researchers interested in the practice and study of genealogy in the United States will find these materials useful. There is also some documentation of foreign companies and individuals involved in the study and trade of genealogy. These materials document how genealogical research was done and where genealogists received their information. The bulk of the material dates from circa 1880 to circa 1920 and is from the northeastern United States.
