Shauna R. Anderson is a restaurateur, author, film producer, historian, and businesswoman. Anderson had a successful accounting business when she decided to revive the chitlin business in the early 90's. She knew that families were losing the tradition of cooking chitlins because high quality cleaned pork chitterlings were not readily available. Chitlin Market and Co. was soon selling chitlins online across the country and now has over 10,000 customers. Saveur Magazine named Anderson "the" source for chitlins.
The collection, which dates from 1974 to 2006 and measures 1.16 linear feet, documents the history of the Chitlin Market and Co., which was founded in 1995 in Hyattsville, Maryland by Shauna Renee Anderson. The collection is comprised of business documents, correspondence, advertisements, newspaper clippings, and photographs.
